Contemporary Kitchen | 2018

This contemporary kitchen features slim-line countertops with an integrated sink.

About this kitchen

Clear-cut Casual

This contemporary kitchen is equally slick as it is casual.  Reverse finger-grip cabinet fronts in a thunder cloud grey are paired with a sleek white countertop giving this kitchen a modern appeal.  The wall-mounted cabinets with their wood-look details and white doors dress down the look from “cocktail party” to “coffee date”.  The G-shaped layout features a bar-style peninsula that invites both friends and family to make themselves at home.  This kitchen really is the ultimate space for casual entertaining, or breakfast with the family.

Finding a balance between form and function is vital – consider how you live in your space as well as the emotion you would like for the space to evoke.  Ultra-modern designs can at times come across as cold and uninviting, but with the right materials and lighting even a clean-cut design can be casually inviting.

The features

We love…

LED lighting systems are a wonderful option for task lighting, as they can easily be installed beneath wall-mounted cabinets.  They are available in an array of colours, which allow you to set the tone for the space.

Warm white lighting has been used here to add a soft glow to the space; had cool white been installed the room might have had a more formal feel to it.  It is a good idea to consider how lighting will affect the mood of the room.

Woodlike elements add warmth and interest and can be used with great effect.  There are numerous materials available to achieve this, with some mimicking natural wood very closely.

The carcasses for the wall-mounted cabinets here are Egger Feelwood ™ – a German-engineered melamine board that is incredibly durable and easy to maintain.  Board manufacturers are constantly improving the quality of their offerings.

Natural wood tones compliment the solid colour blocks in this contemporary kitchen design.
