What started out as bespoke joinery grew into so much more…
Where it all began
From Crib Creations to CCMI
CCMI is built on a legacy of craftsmanship that dates back to 1997. What began as Olde Hand Interiors evolved over the years through a passion for quality joinery, custom furniture, and exceptional workmanship.
In 2007, Jean Booyens founded Crib Creations with a vision of designing and manufacturing premium custom furniture for discerning homeowners. Following the acquisition of Olde Hand Interiors in 2013, the business expanded into commercial joinery and shopfitting, delivering bespoke solutions for offices, restaurants, coffee shops, retail spaces, exhibitions and luxury residential projects.
The years that followed brought invaluable experience across every aspect of the joinery industry. As the market evolved, so did the company, continually refining its processes, embracing new technologies and improving its craftsmanship. This journey ultimately led to a renewed focus on what we are most passionate about—creating exceptional custom cabinetry for homes.
In 2017, CCMI was established, carrying forward the reputation and expertise built over many years while focusing primarily on bespoke kitchens, bedroom cupboards, vanities and custom interior joinery for the mid- to high-end residential market.
In 2026, the next chapter began when Johan Harmse took ownership of CCMI after spending nearly a decade working within the business. Having been involved in every stage of the process, from design and project management to manufacturing and installation, Johan understands that every project is personal.
Today, Johan leads CCMI with a simple philosophy: every client deserves exceptional craftsmanship, honest communication and a finished product that exceeds expectations. He is passionate about building lasting relationships with clients, ensuring every project receives the attention to detail it deserves, and delivering cabinetry that is both beautiful and built to last.
While our leadership has changed, our commitment to quality has never wavered. We continue to combine traditional craftsmanship with modern manufacturing techniques, premium materials and innovative design to create joinery that is tailored to each client’s home, lifestyle and vision.
At CCMI, we don’t believe in one-size-fits-all solutions. Every piece we manufacture is custom made, because every home, and every client, is unique.
