Rustic in the city
Victorian homes have so much charm and character, and robbing an old dame of her dignity whilst freshening up her look would be utterly shameful. Play to the strengths of an older property by incorporating some of the original features in your new design.
Merging elements from traditional and modern design styles work exceptionally well when updating an older home. The original oak floors of this home set the tone for this farm-style kitchen. Many traditional design elements have been retained here, they have been complemented by the addition of contemporary features such as concrete countertops and trendy dark blue cabinet fronts.
Something as simple as pretty tableware displayed on open shelving can really change the look of a kitchen. The warmth of the wooden floors, stools, and island countertop, is echoed subtly over the crisp subway tiles through the floating shelves used to display the lovely mismatched tableware.
