We had an inkling that this modern monochromatic space would take the cake, and we weren’t wrong! We are absolutely thrilled that you agree with us.

Finalists | Kitchen of the Year 2020
Kitchen #1 |Tamboerskloof Transitional
2nd Place – Kitchen of the Year 2020
This transitional kitchen is a real trend setter! It has certainly brought this Victorian home well into the 21st century using a combination of styles. Natural wood, engineered stone and the custom sprayed cabinets, in a matte finish of deep blue and crisp white, create oodles of interest. LED lighting beneath the wall-mounted shelving really brings the chocolate tones of the marbled stone to life. It is both light and fresh, and filled with a richness of texture and colour. This kitchen is an instant classic in a class of it’s own!

Kitchen #2 | City Modern
1st Place – WINNER – Kitchen of the Year 2020
This modern, city kitchen is an ultra-sleek contemporary masterpiece! The high contrast between the matte black cabinetry and the white marble island surface is eye catching, crisp and clean. The reflective splashback subtly mirrors the open-plan living space creating the illusion of doubled double volume. A truly magical, mirrored city scape brings this monochromatic wall space to life. Pops of colour have been introduced through the clever addition of vibrant red appliances. This on-trend kitchen is a modern marvel!
What people said about the winning kitchen…
“Sleek Clean Modern, My Dream Kitchen” – Denise Coleman
“Love the black, so chic. Aesthetically pleasing and blends so well with the rest of the fixtures and fittings. Smooth!” – Melissa Combrink
“My personal preference usually errs towards lighter cabinetry, but the use of dark colours, offset by the abundance of ambient, natural light, really gives this kitchen a unique, modern look. The white centre island counter is highlighted in contrast, and the use of what is usually ‘dead space’ has been utilised well to ensure that this kitchen is a cut above the rest of the competition.” – Dean Castle
“I love the clean lines and modern feel, the contrasting cabinets really compliment each other.” – Renee Arendse
Kitchen #3 | Franschoek Traditional
Tied 3rd Place – Kitchen of the Year 2020
Traditional and simplistic, this country kitchen is as crisp as the mountain air! Antiqued brass paired with brandished wood-grain brings charm to the space. All of the mod cons required to make life in the kitchen a pleasure are cleverly concealed behind the traditional cabinet fronts. An integrated fridge/freezer, dishwasher, and washing machine, are neatly tucked away, out of sight – keeping the space open and clutter free. Textured countertops and dark wood elements add a modern twist to a traditional style. This kitchen is fresh and fuss free!
Kitchen #4 | Camps Bay Contemporary
Tied 3rd Place – Kitchen of the Year 2020
This contemporary kitchen is a real conversation starter with its exotic Blue Agate countertops! Simple white cabinets with crisp lines and reverse finger-grip detail put the showstopping countertop at centre stage. This is actually a ‘scullery’ kitchen tucked away behind the home’s main entertainment kitchen. This little blue wonder is geared for getting the dirty work done with a fully-equipped laundry cabinet… an extra deep drawer is the perfect spot for the dustbin, and recycling containers. This scullery kitchen proves that a second kitchen doesn’t have to be second best!
